Danzar la Frontera: Book Presentation by Prof Olga Olivas, in dialogue with Sr. Mario Aguilar, Senior Dancer for San Aztec Dance Group
On Saturday January 18, 2020, Professor Olga Olivas held a presentation at Centro Cultural de la Raza, San Diego. The event featured faculty, students, and community members for a presentation of Aztec dancers with Senior Dancer Mario Aguilar and Dr. Olga Olivas in dialogue about the Professor Olivas' recently published book entitled Danzar la Frontera: Procesos socioculturales en la tradición de danza azteca en las Californias. Her anthropological study compares cultural, political, and experiential dimensions of a movement to preserve and promote cultural connections across three different locales of the border zone (Tijuana, San Diego, Los Angeles).
